My family
My wife Brooke and I have been married since 2010. Brooke is also a licensed independent agent with Aflac. She assists me with Aflac claims and administration. We have three children, Mckenzie, Braden, and Olivia.
My story
Hometown
I grew up in the California central valley in a small town surrounded by agriculture and farms. My father, Richard McIlroy, owned a small farm equipment manufacturing business which was started by my grandfather Rufus McIlroy. My mother, Anne McIlroy, was a homemaker. I have two brothers and one sister.
After college
I worked for Halliburton in the oil and gas service industry for 16 years. I didn’t choose Halliburton, Halliburton chose me. I started my career as an open-hole wireline field engineer on the oil rig sites around Bakersfield, California. Next, I moved to become a cased-hole wireline analyst in Denver, Colorado. From there I moved to become a pulsed-neutron product champion in Houston, Texas. Finally, I took a position internationally as a cased-hole wireline advisor in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
A fresh start
In the summer of 2020, I was laid off from Halliburton due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. I started the McIlroy Insurance Group in 2020 as an independent agent with Aflac in Houston, Texas. I’ve had many challenges in life and struggle with some to this day. Both of my parents passed away due to cancer and I’ve had many personal struggles as well. My path in life is now to help and serve others.
